Trevecca Men’s Basketball | Trojans Find Revenge Against Falcons

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (13-5, 8-4 GSC) bounced back in emphatic fashion, securing a 20-point victory, 89-69, over the University of Montevallo (11-7, 7-5 GSC).

THE SERIES

With this win, the Trojans level the all-time series against the Falcons at 1-1, avenging the 18-point loss Montevallo handed them earlier this season.

BREAKING IT DOWN

The Falcons struck first with an opening bucket to lead 2-0—however, this would be their one and only lead of the game.

From the outset, the Trojans came out with a focused and determined performance in what was a critical matchup between two teams tied in the Gulf South Conference standings at 7-4.

Jalen Page set the tone early with a three-pointer, and Trevecca's dominance was evident as they raced to an 11-4 lead within the first three minutes, forcing Montevallo to call an early timeout.

The Trojans maintained control throughout the first half, converting 14 field goals, including eight three-pointers, while holding Montevallo to just one triple out of eight attempts. This effort carried Trevecca to a commanding 40-23 halftime lead.

Despite Montevallo's early signs of resistance early in the second half with an 8-0 run, trimming the deficit to nine points, The Trojans easily found their way back on track.

Trevecca quickly countered with an 18-8 run over the next six minutes, reestablishing their dominance with a 19-point advantage.

The Trojans carried this momentum through the final stretch, securing a decisive 89-69 victory.

THE PLAYERS

Jalen Page led the team with a game-high 28 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including five three-pointers, and went a perfect 11-of-11 from the free-throw line. He also pulled down eight rebounds and dished out three assists.

Jikari Johnson contributed 21 points, shooting an efficient 7-of-15 from the field and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Spencer White dominated the boards with 10 rebounds, a career high, while adding 7 points, 1 block, and 2 steals.

Jake Mulder provided a spark off the bench with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including three three-pointers.

THE TEAM

Trevecca's impressive performance was highlighted by their efficiency on offense, shooting 44.3% from the field and 45.9% from three-point range. The Trojans were nearly automatic at the free-throw line, converting 90% of their attempts (18-of-20). They outpaced Montevallo in bench points (23-22) and points off turnovers (11-6) while limiting the Falcons to just 25.9% shooting from beyond the arc.

UP NEXT

The Trojans are back home Saturday as they host the Auburn Montgomery (5-6, 8-8 GSC) at 4:00 p.m.
