NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Trevecca Nazarene University Men's Basketball team (11-4, 6-3 GSC) continued their dominant home streak, defeating Mississippi College (6-12, 2-8 GSC) 89-77 to maintain their perfect 2025 record.
THE SERIES
This marked the first-ever meeting between the Trojans and Choctaws in men's basketball.
BREAKING IT DOWN
The Trojans opened the game with an efficient 6-12 start from the field.
However, Mississippi College responded with an impressive 22-13 run, fueled by three-point accuracy and strong shooting, to grab a 28-23 lead midway through the first half.
The Choctaws' surge served as a wake-up call for the Trojans, who closed the half with gritty defense and a decisive 19-10 run to enter halftime with a 42-38 advantage.
In the second half, the Trojans' defense tightened, and their offense found its rhythm. Trevecca never lost its lead agasint, with precise ball movement and strong shooting to maintain control.
The team outscored the Choctaws 47-39 in the final 20 minutes, shooting 16-28 from the field (57%) and hitting 6-10 from beyond the arc (60%).
This well-rounded performance secured the victory and kept Trevecca unbeaten in 2025, while also matching their record for most consecutive home wins.
KEY PLAYERS
Jikari Johnson led the charge for the Trojans, delivering an impressive 26-point performance while shooting 8-13 from the field and adding four rebounds and two steals.
Jalen Page contributed 19 points and five rebounds.
Caleb Terry dominated the boards with 13 rebounds (a career high) and added 16 points.
Mateo Esmeraldo orchestrated the offense with nine assists, complementing his seven points.
THE TEAM
Trevecca showcased their depth and teamwork, with four players scoring in double digits. Their defensive effort forced seven turnovers while holding Mississippi College to just 34% shooting in the second half.
