NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (1-1-1) earned their first victory of the season with a 1-0 win over former G-MAC rival Cedarville University (2-1-0) in a non-conference matchup at the Trojan Soccer Complex.
THE SERIES
This marked the 23rd meeting between the Trojans and Yellow Jackets. Cedarville held a positive 16-2-4 record against Trevecca prior to today's match.
THE MATCH
Facing a familiar opponent, Coach Danny Leavy made key adjustments to the starting lineup.
Joey Houser was introduced at center back, allowing
Max Titterington to shift into a midfield role.
Warren Worley got the start at left back, while Sam Baarrionuevo rejoined the front three alongside
Daniel Shiel and
Chris Douglas.
The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute when a perfectly placed cross from Titterington found
Daniel Shiel, who headed in his first collegiate goal to put the Trojans ahead.
This victory marks only the third all-time win for Trevecca against Cedarville, with previous wins recorded in 2020 and 2017.

The Trojans will look to build on their momentum when they host Freed-Hardeman University (5-0-1) next Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. They will then turn their attention to their Gulf South Conference debut, taking on the University of Alabama at Huntsville (1-1-1) on the road next Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
