GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's golf team finished play at its first 54-hole event of the year, the Lady Bearcat Invitational hosted by Lander University. The Trojans shot a season best 310 in the second round and one of the five lowest team rounds in program history.
Gabriela Mead (82-72-84) and
Ava Pulley (81-75-82) led the way for the Trojans – both shooting a 238.
Mead shot a career best even-par 72 in the second round. It is the lowest round of the year for anyone on the team. Additionally, Mead matched her career 36-holes total with a 154.
Mead, a junior, also recorded her career best 54-hole total, finishing at 82-72-84=238. The 238 is the 16th best all-time 54-hole total in school history.

Gabriela Mead is one for the record books it is tied for the eighth best round ever shot by a Trojan. There have been seven rounds shot below par in the history of the women's program. Four of those were recorded by Alexa Rippy with
Emma McCloskey and Rachel McMahan each getting a one-under par round in their file. Alexa Rippy has the two lowest rounds, a three-under 69 and a two-under par, while also recording two one-under par rounds in her historic career.
Pulley shot a career best 75 in the second round. The freshman equaled her career best 36-hole total of 156 over the first two rounds on Monday. The 238 is her first 54-hole collegiate effort.
In the final tally, the Trojans as a team shot a 334-310-324=968. The 968 is the fifth best 54-hole team total in school history. The team carded 11 of their 18 birdies during their strong second round performance on Monday.
HIGHLY RANKED FIELD
The strong team and individual numbers are even more impressive when considering the strength of the field the Trojans competed against.
There are four teams in the field ranked in the March 15, 2024 WGCA (Women's Golf Coaches Association) Top 25 - No. 14 Lee University, No. 18 Wingate University, No. 19 Lander University, and No. 23 University of North Georgia.
Five teams in the field are ranked in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region - Lander Univ, Lee Univ, Limestone Univ., North Georgia, Wingate – where Trevecca will be based next year when they move to the Gulf South Conference.
Additionally, nine teams in the field are in the latest Clipped Top 50 rating for NCAA Division II women's golf team – No. 15 Lee University, No. 19 Wingate Univ., No. 20 Limestone Univ., No. 21 Lander Univ., No. 25 Univ. of North Georgia, No. 34 Montevallo Univ., No. 35 Lincoln Memorial Univ., No. 45 Lenoir-Rhyne University, No. 50 Carson-Newman Univ.

AVA PULLEY
Pulley collected four (4) birdies on Monday after recording three in the second round. She added three more during Tuesday's third round to lead the team with seven red numbers for the event.

Taylor finished tied for sixth in the field on the par three holes with a 3.17 average, just two-over-par over the 54-hole event.
Her 28 pars led the team, just two more than
Gabriela Mead.
She added three birdies over the first 36-holes and collected on in the third round for four in the event.
GABRIELA MEAD
Mead had four birdies in the second round helping her to the career-best even-par 72. It is her first career par-or-better round.
Her 26 pars are second most on the team at the event.
AUDREY REESE
Sank three birdies on Monday, two on the front nine of the second round.
Tied for the low team round on Tuesday.
SARA BLAKE COLEY
Had 15 pars on Monday and another seven on Tuesday for 22 over the event.
Two of her three rounds counted toward the team score.

The Trojans play at the North Greenville (SC) University Invitational on April 80 in Travelers Rest, SC on April 8-9.
Later, the team sets its sights on The Pearl Club in Owensboro, Ky. where the 2023 Great Midwest Championships are scheduled for April 25-26-27, 2024.
