Trevecca Basketball | Lambesis, Carter, Wilken Make CSC Academic All-District

NASHVILLE – Three Trevecca Nazarene University basketball players are selected for the 2023-24 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators. The three are - Peter Lambesis, Keeley Carter, and Faith Wilken. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

All three Trevecca student-athletes were selected for College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors and are now on their way to consideration for Academic All-American honors.

Lambesis, from Mt. Prospect, Illinois, majors in entrepreneurship and focuses on innovation.

He played 29 games for the Trojans and helped them to a revival with 16 wins and a trip to the conference tournament after the program earned just two wins last year.

Lambesis averaged 33.2 minutes per game and shot 54.5% from the field, 34.8% from three-point range, and 70% from the line. He averaged 12.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

He was a crucial cog in taking the team from the lowest-scoring team in all of NCAA Division II to the second-best-scoring team in the Great Midwest. The team finished sixth in the G-MAC and made the conference tournament after being picked 11th of 12 teams in the preseason coach's poll.

Lambesis is an entrepreneurially driven student who is currently in the process of developing a business start-up focused on an innovative mobile app called "social fitness." The application is designed to help college students meet their fitness goals.

He and his teammates volunteer with KidPOWER. Lambesis served as a volunteer mentor to aid students in making positive life choices and overcoming the toxic stress of adverse childhood experiences. The graduate student is among 25 NCAA college basketball players invited to Athletes in Action Captains Academy Leadership Conference - Spring '24.

Carter, a Science in Education major with an ESL Endorsement

She is from Lafayette, Tennessee.

Carter helped lead the Trojans from a five-win team two years ago to a team that made the NCAA Division II Championships in back-to-back seasons. The team also won 22 games a season ago and 19 wins this year. They reached the regional semifinals a year ago.

On the court, Carter was the fourth leading scorer in all of NCAA Division II basketball while setting nearly all of Trevecca's NCAA D2 era game, season, and career records.

This season, she averaged 21.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, averaging 3.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game. She shot 47.3% from the field, 37.3% from three-point range, and 83.3% from the foul line.

In the classroom, Carter is Summa Cum Laude and was honored with the 2022-2023 Trevecca Education Department Service Award and made the Dean's List every semester of her college career.

The senior is a nursing major with plans to graduate this spring. The Nolensville native played high school basketball at Page High School.

She helped lead the program from a five-win team two years ago to back-to-back NCAA Division II Championship appearances, including a 22-win and region semifinal appearance last season.

Athletically, she made the Great Midwest All-conference team and was selected as the Great Midwest Athlete of the Week.

She averaged 32.5 minutes per game, contributing 12.9 points and 5.7 rebounds while also picking up 2.1 steals, dishing out 1.7 assists, and blocking 1.3 shots per game.

She also tied a school record for made three-pointers in a game with seven.

Among her academic honors, she was selected as the nursing student of the year despite being a two-semester student-athlete.

Has been involved in leading team efforts in the community, including working with KidPower to mentor and teach kids.

WHAT'S NEXT
All three are now under consideration for CSC Academic All-American honors.
