CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (15-12, 10-9 Great Midwest) lost on the road at Thomas More University (16-11, 11-8 Great Midwest), 74-55, on Thursday night in the Connor Convocation Center. It is the first game for the Trojans at TMU.
Thomas More University, new to the Great Midwest and NCAA Division II, leads the all-time series 2-0 with the win.
BREAKING IT DOWN
The Saints took an early lead, but the Trojans bounced back to take the lead, 7-6, and built on their lead holding a 16-11 lead with 13:21 to go in the first half. The Saints regained the lead, 21-18, and the teams alternated with a modest lead for several minutes on the game clock. With TNU leading 24-23 at the 7:24 mark of the first half, the Saints took the reigns. From the 7:24 mark to the 1:12 mark on the first half clock, the Saints outscored the Trojans 14-7 to take a 37-31 lead. TMU led 37-34 at the half.
After the halftime intermission, the Saints came out on fire, scoring the first seven of the half to establish a 44-34 lead. The run extended to 15-2, putting the home team up 52-36 with 14:07 to go in the game. The Trojans never recovered offensively, and the Saints won 74-55.
KEY PLAYERS
Tommy Gankhuyag (15), Pete Lambesis (15), and Jamal Cannady (10) all scored in double figures for the Trojans. Gankhuyag led the team with six rebounds and three assists. Lambesis had two steals.
TEAM TIME
After shooting 60% (15-25) from the field in the first half, the Trojans shot just 31% (9-29) in the second half. The Trojans shot 30.8% from three, hitting 4-13. TNU got to the line only seven times and hit three. TMU shot 56.6% (30-53) for the game. The Trojans were outrebounded 31-26.

Trevecca faces the top team in the conference on Saturday in Owensboro, Ky. when they take on the No. 25 Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers (21-6, 15-4 Great Midwest) at 3:15 PM. It is the final regular season game of the year for the Trojans and Panthers.
