NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (6-1) swept the first two games of a four-game series with Lewis University (1-5) in another Midwest Region series at Jackson Field. The Trojans won 6-5 and 12-2 over the Flyers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
Trevecca scored two runs in the first on a RBI-single from
Logan Harrell that scored
Haven Mangrum.
Frankie Carreras followed with a sac fly that drove in
Joey Parliment.
David Milam made it 3-0 with a solo home run in the second inning. In the third,
Josh Griffin singled, driving in
Cole McCallum. Lewis scored three in the fourth to make it a 4-3 game. Trevecca got one back in their half of the fourth on another
Logan Harrell RBI, pushing
Haven Mangrum across again. In the sixth,
Joey Parliment drove in
Jacob Lester on a sac fly to center. Making it 6-3 Trojans. The Parliment RBI proved to be vital as Lewis scored two in the ninth, but
Trent Merrill pitched out of the jam for his first save.
GAME TWO
The Trojans scored the games first eight runs with four in the first, one in the second, and three in the fourth. It wasn't until the sixth that the Flyers scored. It was single run, their only tally of the game.
Abbott Lawrence tripled with the bases loaded in the first inning, jump starting the offensive explosion.
Josh Griffin followed with an RBI-single, scoring Lawrence.
Logan Harrell picked up an RBI in the second on a ground out.
Haven Mangrum doubled in the fourth inning to score
Carter Warner, with the help of a throwing error by Lewis.
Logan Harrell came through again with a sac fly that plated a run.
Cole McCallum cleaned it all up with a solo home run down the right field line putting the Trojans up 8-0.
Jacob Seiler reached on an error with the bases loaded in the sixth, pushing in another run.
Josh Griffin followed with a bases loaded walk that scored a run. The final blow for the Trojans came from
Carter Warner who reached on an error with the bases loaded, driving in two unearned runs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
GAME ONE
Keele struck out two in the win, going the first five innings. Keele only allowed one earned run.
Merrill pitched the final four innings for the save. Merrill was pitching shutout ball until the ninth.
Haven Mangrum went 2-3 with a triple and two runs scored. He also reached on a hit-by-pitch.
Cole McCallum had the double while
David Milam hit the homerun.
GAME TWO
Haven Mangrum went 3-5 with three runs scored and a double.
Cole McCallum scored twice and drove in a run with a home run.
Abbott Lawrence went 1-2 with two runs scored, a triple, three RBI, and two walks.
Jonah Smithson (1-0) went six innings for the win, allowing just one run on two hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.
Patrick Green pitched a scoreless seventh inning.
TEAM NOTES
Jack Keele is 3-0 on the mound after getting the win in game one while Keele has produced half the Trojans six wins on the year.
Jonah Smithson pitched up his first win in game two. Smithson has a team-high 11 strikeouts on the year, two more than Keele who is second with nine.
Center fielder
Haven Mangrum his hitting a team-high .548 with a 1.427 OPS. He leads the team with 14 runs scored, 17 hits, and two triples.
Cole McCallum leads the team with four doubles, three homeruns, and 14 RBI. He's hitting .345.
Josh Griffin is hitting .357 with a double, five RBI, and a .419 on-base-percentage.

After completing the series with Lewis on Saturday – double header starting at Noon – the Trojans head on the road to play at the University of Illinois Springfield March 1-2. The Prairie Stars host the Trojans for a three-game series.
