NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University Women's Basketball team (4-7, 1-4 GSC) dropped a tough Gulf South Conference matchup against Valdosta State (7-3, 2-2 GSC) with a final score of 50-64.

This contest marked the first-ever meeting between Trevecca and Valdosta State in women's basketball.
BREAKING IT DOWN
The first half showcased a closely contested battle as neither team was able to establish a significant lead. The Trojans came out strong in the first quarter, led by
Tatum Shaw and
Amaya Thomas, who combined for 10 of Trevecca's 14 points. The Trojans ended the quarter with a 14-9 lead, setting the tone early.
Valdosta State responded in the second quarter, amping up their defensive pressure while finding their rhythm offensively. Despite Trevecca's best efforts, the Blazers edged out a slim lead at halftime, entering the break ahead by one point.
The second half saw the Blazers take control. Trevecca struggled to maintain their offensive pace as Valdosta State's efficiency from beyond the arc (5-for-8 in the third quarter) and overall field goal percentage of 59.16% after the half proved too much to handle.
In the fourth quarter, the Blazers outscored the Trojans 21-10, securing the game and handing Trevecca another conference loss.
KEY PLAYERS
Tatum Shaw led the Trojans in scoring with 13 points, including three triples, while also contributing defensively with three steals.
Cheyenne Trotter added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Amaya Thomas chipped in 9 points and recorded four assists and grabbed three boards.
THE TEAM
The Trojans shot 38.6% from the field and 37.5% from three but were limited to just 10 free-throw attempts. Defensive struggles in the paint and second-chance opportunities for Valdosta State proved costly, as the Blazers capitalized with 32 points in the paint and 24 second-chance points.
