MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Trevecca Nazarene men's soccer team concluded its 2024 season after falling 5-2 to Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) in the Gulf South Conference (GSC) quarterfinals on Thursday night.
THE SERIES
The Trojans were making their first postseason appearance since 2017 but could not overcome the Warhawks, who remain undefeated against Trevecca this season, having beaten them 2-0 in their regular-season meeting.
THE GAME
AUM wasted no time asserting control, with Sean Keane capitalizing on an early chance in the fifth minute.
Trevecca responded quickly, with
Judah Jones finding the equalizer in the 12th minute to draw the game level.
However, Lucas Wilson put the Warhawks back in the lead at the 36th minute, setting the tone for the second half. AUM came out firing after the break, with Carlo Russo adding a brace within three minutes (47', 50') to give AUM a commanding 4-1 lead. AUM sealed the match when Jamie Ward converted off a Landon Surratt assist in the 66th minute.
Trevecca found a glimmer of hope in the 70th minute with a goal from
Daniel Shiel, but AUM had the game in control at this point.

The Trojans will look to build on this year's postseason return when they regroup next season.
Trevecca ends the season with a 5-9-3 record overall, reflecting growth in their first full season in the highly competitive GSC.
