HOW IT HAPPENED
Trevecca took the first point of the match, but it was pretty much all Choctaws from there. A 10-1 run by MC gave the Choctaws an early 10-2 lead. The Trojans got as close as seven on two different occasions, but MC closed the opener off on a 5-2 run while leading 20-13.
The second set started off much more evenly. Trevecca took its only lead of the game off an
Emma Titus kill at 3-2. The Choctaws made their move up 7-5. MC took six of the next seven points to jump out to a 12-6 lead. The Trojans were not done, though, as they rallied for six straight points and pulled within one at 16-15. Late in the set, Trevecca's last gasp at a rally was shortened by an MC kill after the Trojans once again pulled within one at 22-21. On the stretch, three different Trojans collected a kill. The final three points of the set went to the Choctaws for the 25-21 win.
The first six points of the third were split before the Trojans opened up their largest lead of the night at 5-3. After MC tied it up once again, Trevecca got a kill from
Josie Hill to push the lead back to two at 9-7. Four straight points from the Choctaws made it an 11-9 game. The Trojans responded with three straight points to take the lead back, 12-11. A 4-0 run gave the Trojans their final lead of the match at 19-18. Four straight points for the Choctaws gave MC a 22-19 lead and enough momentum to take the set and match, 25-20.
