NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (4-1) hosted Kentucky Christian University (0-6) on Tuesday and delivered a historic 105-58 victory. The 47-point margin is the largest in Trevecca's NCAA era.
THE SERIES
This was the first-ever meeting between Trevecca and Kentucky Christian in men's basketball.
BREAKING IT DOWN
From the jump, the game was all Trojans. Trevecca opened with a 10-0 run and never looked back, building on their lead throughout the first half.
By halftime, they led by 29 points (53-24), making it the second time this season the Trojans eclipsed the 50-point mark in the first half—matching the total number of such halves achieved last season.
Trevecca continued to dominate in the second half, with contributions coming from all across the roster. They maintained their pace in the second half, outscoring Kentucky Christian 52-34.
This performance shattered their previous record margin of 46 points set just last week against Welch (Nov. 11) and a 33-point victory against Ohio Valley during the 2017-18 season.
KEY PLAYERS
Jake Mulder led all scorers with 19 points in just 13 minutes, shooting an impressive 7-8 from the field (2-2 3-PT).
Jikari Johnson followed closely with 18 points, including 3-5 shooting from beyond the arc.
Jalen Page contributed 10 points, while NaVuan Peterson added 10 points and a team-high 7 rebounds.
Mason Brown provided a spark off the bench with 9 points on a perfect 3-3 shooting performance from three-point range.
Hank Hutcheson, Mateo Esmeraldo, and Spencer White all chipped in with 7 points each.
THE TEAM
Trevecca's team performance was a showcase of efficiency and balance. The Trojans shot an impressive 60.7% from the field, including 50% from beyond the arc, knocking down 16 of their 32 three-point attempts. At the free-throw line, they converted 62.5% of their shots.
Trevecca dominated in the paint with 40 points and saw a remarkable 56 points come from their bench. The team capitalized on turnovers, scoring 17 points off Kentucky Christian's 16 turnovers, and tallied 19 fast-break points.
Defensively, the team stole the ball eight times and added one block.
UP NEXT
The Trojans will next face Cumberland University (0-6) on Saturday at 4:00 PM. Following that, Trevecca opens Gulf South Conference play at home against UAH on Wednesday, November 27.
