Box Score NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (17-7, 13-4 Great Midwest) hosted the University of Findlay (6-18, 3-13 Great Midwest) on Thursday night and won 87-64. With rebounds tonight, Emma Palmer has surpassed 300 career rebounds.
THE SERIES
The Trojans, now 4-7 in the series, won the meeting earlier in the season, 71-60, on January 14 in Ohio. It was their first win in the series since January 23, 2021. They now sweep the season series against the Oilers.
THE FLOW
The Trojans came out of the gates on fire as they scored the first five points during a 15-2 run to begin the game. Bayleigh Carmichel had back-to-back threes to round out the start. Carmichel's third three-pointer extended the Trojan's lead to 14 points with 3:21 left in the first quarter. However, the Oilers ended the quarter on an 11-2 run to get within 22-17. Trevecca responded with nine straight points, seven by Keeley Carter, to extend their lead back to 14 with 6:27 left in the half. The teams traded baskets, and the Trojans went into halftime up 47-33.
The Trojans and Oilers fought back and forth in the third quarter as the Trojan's lead hovered around 18 until under three minutes left in the third quarter when the Trojans scored 10 straight points to go up 74-46 with 1:18 left. Lili and Faith Wilken both hit threes during that stretch. Then during the fourth quarter, the Oilers began to show life as they got within 18, but the Trojan's lead was too much.
THE PLAYERS
Keeley Carter led the Trojans with 25 points and seven rebounds. Lili Wilken had 17 points and five rebounds. Emma Palmer added 15 points and 14 rebounds for the double-double.
THE TEAMS
The Trojans shot 47.9% (34-71) from the floor, 33.3% (7-21) from three-point range, and 80% (12-15) from the free-throw line. The Trojans outrebounded Findlay 49-21.
UP NEXT
The Trojans host Tiffin University (6-16, 3-11 Great Midwest) on Saturday at 1:00 PM for Senior Day on the Hill. The Trojans have a 5-2 lead in the series and have won the last two matchups against the Dragons.
