Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (18-8, 14-5 Great Midwest) traveled to Kentucky Wesleyan College (20-5, 16-2 Great Midwest) on Thursday night and fell 62-47.
THE SERIES
The Panthers lead the series 17-6, and the Trojans snapped a Panther's 12-game win streak earlier this season in a 63-55 win at Trojan Fieldhouse.
THE FLOW
The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to get too far ahead of the other. The Panthers got ahead 13-8 with 4:32 left in the first quarter. The Trojans responded to take the lead with seven straight points, led by a Bayleigh Carmichel three to go up 15-13. In the second quarter, Kentucky Wesleyan controlled the game as they held the Trojans to only six points in the quarter. The Panther's lead was 17 at halftime.
The Trojans tried to cut down on the Panther's lead in the third quarter as they went on an 8-2 run to cut it to 46-32 with 5:16 left in the quarter. But that is as close as they would get the rest of the way.
THE PLAYERS
Keeley Carter led the Trojans with 18 points and four rebounds. Faith Wilken had 10 points and six rebounds. Emma Palmer added seven points.
THE TEAMS
The Trojans shot 39.6% (19-48) from the floor, 26.7% (4-15) from three-point range, and 50% (5-10) from the free-throw line.
UP NEXT
The Trojans will wrap up the regular season at home against Ursuline College (12-13, 8-9 Great Midwest) on Saturday at 1:00 PM. Ursuline leads the all-time series 10-8 between the two original members of the Great Midwest. Ursuline has won four in a row in the series. The Trojans last won on January 31, 2019. Trevecca won the first seven meetings.
