Box Score NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (18-7, 14-4 Great Midwest) hosted Tiffin University (6-18, 3-13 Great Midwest) on Saturday afternoon and won 65-60 on Senior Day on the Hill.
THE SERIES
The Trojans have a 6-2 lead in the series and have won the last three matchups against the Dragons.
THE FLOW
The Trojans and Dragons matched each other basket for basket during the game's first five minutes. Then after being tied 11-11, Tiffin pulled away with a 9-2 run to end the first quarter up 20-13. The Trojans got within 20-16, but Tiffin pulled away as the quarter went on, and the Trojans went into halftime down 33-23.
The Trojans closed the gap in the third quarter as they took a 41-40 lead with 3:12 left in the third quarter, following an 18-5 run led by pairs of three-pointers from Bayleigh Carmichel and Lili Wilken. The Trojans went into the fourth quarter up 44-42. The teams would trade the lead throughout the fourth quarter, with the Trojans holding a 61-58 lead with 0:58.9 left. The Trojans held on to win with free throws.
THE PLAYERS
Keeley Carter led the Trojans with 21 points and five rebounds. Lili Wilken had 18 points. Bayleigh Carmichel added 15 points.
THE TEAMS
The Trojans shot 48.8% (22-45) from the floor, 38.9% (7-18) from three-point range, and 77.8% (14-18) from the free-throw line.
UP NEXT
The Trojans will go on the road to face Kentucky Wesleyan (18-5, 14-2 Great Midwest) on Thursday at 5:30 PM. The Panthers lead the series 16-6, and the Trojans snapped a Panther's 12-game win streak earlier this season in a 63-55 win at Trojan Fieldhouse.
