Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (13-7, 9-4 Great Midwest) traveled to Lake Erie College (7-11, 3-7 Great Midwest) on Thursday night and fell 67-64.
THE SERIES
The Trojans have a 7-2 advantage all-time, with Lake Erie snapping a Trojan's seven-game win streak.
THE FLOW
The Trojans came out and got the upper hand early as Bayleigh Carmichel and Lili Wilken both hit threes to give Trevecca a 12-5 lead after six minutes. Lake Erie trimmed the Trojan's lead down to 16-13 after the first frame. Lake Erie evened the playing field in the second quarter and would lead by as much as six points before a Keeley Carter layup with six seconds left in the half cut the Trojan's deficit to 31-28.
The Trojans briefly had the lead in the third quarter following a Bayleigh Carmichel three and a Lili Wilken layup. But the Storm went up 42-37 with 4:19 left in the quarter. Then the Trojans got going as they scored 16 unanswered points which included seven points from Lili Wilken to go into the final frame up 53-42. After gaining a bit of ground on the Trojans throughout the first half of the fourth quarter, Lake Erie would take back the lead on a big run to steal the game from the Trojans.
THE PLAYERS
Lili Wilken led the way for the Trojans with a career-high 25 points and six rebounds. Keeley Carter had 13 points and eight rebounds. Bayleigh Carmichel added nine points.
THE TEAMS
The Trojans shot 45.3% (24-53) from the floor, 35.3% (6-17) from three-point range, and 58.8% (10-17) from the free-throw line. The Trojans outrebounded Lake Erie 36-33.
UP NEXT
On Saturday at 12:00 PM, the Trojans will take on Walsh University (8-10, 6-5 Great Midwest). The Trojans snapped Walsh's six-game win streak on January 7th with a 67-60 win at Trojan Fieldhouse.
