Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (10-6, 6-3 Great Midwest) traveled to Tiffin University (5-11, 2-6 Great Midwest) on Thursday night and won 71-64.
THE SERIES
The Trojans still have the lead in the series and now lead 5-2. Tiffin won the previous matchup on February 12th, 2022, at Trojan Fieldhouse 75-85.
THE FLOW
The Trojans took the early advantage to go up 8-2 as Keeley Carter scored five points. Tiffin fought back to tie it up before the Trojans went on a 13-4 run to take a 21-12 lead with 1:43 left in the first quarter. Bayleigh Carmichel accounted for five of those points on the run. Tiffin got some momentum as the quarter finished and would take the lead with 6:43 remaining in the first half. The lead changed back and forth, and Tiffin came out on top 34-31 at halftime.
The Trojans and Dragons traded baskets in the third quarter, with Tiffin still leading. Then with 3:35 left in the quarter, Kor Fornesa Liu gave the Trojans a 44-43 lead on a jump shot. The Dragons briefly took the lead, but the Trojans tied it at 50-50 heading into the fourth quarter. The Trojans caught fire to start the fourth quarter as they built up a 60-52 lead. Keeley Carter scored seven points during the 10-2 run. As time passed, Tiffin made it close, but Keeley Carter put the game away with four free throws.
THE PLAYERS
Keeley Carter led the Trojans with 29 points and two rebounds. She also had two steals. Faith Wilken had 11 points and four rebounds. Kor Fornesa Liu added nine points.
THE TEAMS
The Trojans shot 51.1% (23-45) from the floor, 56.3% (9-16) from three-point range, and 72.7% (16-22) from the free-throw line. The Trojans outrebounded Tiffin 27-22.
UP NEXT
The Trojans will stay on the road and face the University of Findlay (4-12, 1-7 Great Midwest) at 12:00 PM on Saturday.
