Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (5-18, 2-14 Great Midwest) lost Tiffin University (9-13, 4-10 Great Midwest), 85-67, at Gillmor Student Center on Monday afternoon.

Tiffin takes the lead in the all-time series 4-3. The two teams have their second meeting of the season on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was highly contested with both teams trading baskets. Neither team was able to build a lead of more than five. The Trojans had a 27-23 lead after a layup by Calvin Walker with 8:50 left in the half. Following that basket, Tiffin pulled off an 11-1 run to take a 34-28 lead. The Trojans responded with an 11-3 run to take the lead back. However, they went into half down 43-39 after two Tiffin three-pointers.
The second half continued the back and forth trend between the two teams. The Trojans tied the game at 47 on an Elon Smallwood three-pointer at 17:41. Tiffin broke the seesaw trend with a 16-2 run to take a 13-point lead with 7:37 left in regulation. Tiffin lead by as much as 17 in the second half, a lead they would not give up. The Trojans did not give up and went on a 6-3 run as time ran down but it was not enough.
PLAYER STATS BREAKDOWN
CJ Penha paced the Trojans with 18 points, hitting 8-16 from the field added five rebounds, and assist. Elon Smallwood (14), Brendan Newton (14), and Josh Price (12) all reached double figures.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
The Trojans shot 28-64 (43.8%) from the field, 7-35 (20%) from the three-point line, and 4-6 (66.7%) from the free-throw line. Both teams had 39 rebounds. Tiffin out assisted Trevecca 13-11.
UP NEXT
The Trojans have a two game homestand this week. On Thursday at 7:30 PM they face off against Ashland University (14-7, 10-4 Great Midwest) at Trojan Fieldhouse. Then on Saturday in a rematch against Tiffin at 4:00 PM.
