COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (5-16, 2-12 Great Midwest) fell to Ohio Dominican University (6-15, 4-10 Great Midwest) 65-62, in Alumni Hall on Friday. The Trojans rallied late in a thrilling comeback that came up short.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES 

Ohio Dominican keeps the edge in the all-time series 6-4. The Panthers won the earlier meeting this season at Trojan Fieldhouse.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

The Trojans fell behind 9-2 early but clawed back with a 12-4 run to gain the lead 14-13 with 8:35 left in the half. CJ Penha highlighted the run with seven points. The teams swapped the lead for the next few minutes, but with the game tied 23-23 at the 3:56 mark, ODU surged ahead with a 7-0 run to close the half up 30-23.

The Trojans came out of the half strongly, gaining the lead back with a 10-0 run to pull ahead 33-30 with 15:25 remaining. During that span, CJ Penha scored six points. The Panthers surged ahead 39-35 (10:40) with a 9-9 run. The Panthers built a 14 point (51-37) lead with 6:37 left, but the Trojans made another run. First, a 13-4 run to cut the Panther to five (55-50) with 1:56 remaining. Josh Price , who scored nine of the Trojans last 14, hit a three-pointer with 18 seconds left to pull the Trojans within two (62-60). At that point the Trojans had scored on seven straight possessions making eight straight shot attempts. After a pair of ODU free throws, the Trojans trailed 64-60. Price launched another bomb, but this one came up short with :09 left, essentially ending the run and the Trojans stunning rally came up short 65-62.

PLAYER STATS BREAKDOWN 

CJ Penha led the Trojans with 25 points and 15 rebounds for the double-double. Josh Price added 14 points and three rebounds. The Trojans had seven blocks, three by Brendan Newton and two by Caleb Terry. 

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN 

The Trojans shot 49% (25-51) from the floor, 17% (3-18) from the three-point range, and 90% (9-10) from the free-throw line. 

UP NEXT 

The Trojans continue their road trip on Saturday when they take on Cedarville University (12-8, 8-5 Great Midwest) at 3:15 PM. Trevecca will finish its road trip on Monday at Tiffin.
