Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (5-21, 2-17 Great Midwest) lost on the road at Kentucky Wesleyan College (13-14, 8-11 Great Midwest), 70-50, at the Owensboro Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers own a 15-3 advantage in the series. KWC has won 11 of the last 12. Trevecca won 66-59 in the regular-season finale in 2020.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers left little doubt early, starting with a 12-0 run. Playing without leading scorer and rebounder CJ Penha, the Trojans scored their first basket with 15:08 to go in the half when Brendan Newton scored. With 12:11 to go in the half, KWC led 23-7. Trevecca worked their way back in the game outscoring the host 17-8 and trailed 31-24 with 5:03 left in the half. KWC rebuilt a 16-point advantage by the close of the first half on a 9-0 run, leading 40-24.
A 7-0 run to start the second half put the Trojans down 23 (47-24) with 17:35. The Panthers maintained the advantage the rest of the way, settling for a 70-50 win.
PLAYER STATS BREAKDOWN
Calvin Walker led the Trojans with 13 points. Brendan Newton added 12 points and seven rebounds. Josh Price added 12. Caleb Terry collected a team-high 11 rebounds.

Trevecca shot just 31.7%. (20-63) from the field, 26.7% (8-30) from deep, and just 2-8 from the foul line.
UP NEXT
The Trojans have one final game, senior day on Saturday, February 26.
Brendan Newton, CJ Penha, Miguel Williams, Calvin Walker, Elon Smallwood, Chris Rogers, and Jaylon Tharpe. All these seniors could return next year, with the exception of Jaylon Tharpe. With the exception of Tharpe, all the seniors will graduate from Trevecca in May. The Trojans recognized Tharpe a year ago when he graduated.
