NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (4-18, 3-13 Great Midwest) was defeated by Tiffin University (19-9, 14-8 Great Midwest), 75-58 on Saturday afternoon in Trojan Fieldhouse. Keeley Carter scored a career-high 28 points.

THE SERIES

The Trojans still have the lead in the series and now lead 4-2. The Trojans won the previous matchup on February 7th.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Trojans looked to have a repeat of what happened against Tiffin on Monday, but Tiffin established a 10-3 lead early. The Trojans cut their deficit to five when Keeley Carter made a jump-shot to make it 14-9 with 1:55 left in the first quarter. Tiffin led by as much as 14 in the second quarter. The Trojans went into halftime on a 9-5 run to cut their deficit to 42-32 after Emma Palmer made a 3-pointer with 11 seconds left in the half.

Scoring for both teams slowed down in the third quarter, and the Trojans took advantage by going on a 5-2 run to come within seven points of Tiffin. The scoring picked up with four minutes left in the third quarter as Tiffin got hot and extended their lead back to 14. The Trojans fought back in the fourth quarter as Keeley Carter made a 3-pointer with 6:06 left as the Trojans went on a 5-2 run, making it 63-52.

PLAYER PERFORMANCE

Keeley Carter had a career-high 28 points on 8-17 shooting from the floor. Carter added five rebounds and three assists. Emma Palmer had 15 points and six rebounds. Bayleigh Carmichel scored 11 points and added 10 rebounds for the double-double.

TEAM STATS

The Trojans shot 30.4% (17-56) from the field while shooting 6-26 (23.1%) and went 81.8% (18-22) from the free-throw line. The Trojans outrebounded Tiffin 36-34.
