NASHVILLE– The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (5-20, 2-16 Great Midwest) fell to Tiffin University (10-14, 5-11 Great Midwest), 75-62 at Trojan Fieldhouse on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Going into the game, the Trojans knew they had to step up as both CJ Penha and Chris Rogers were out. The first five minutes both teams traded buckets. Josh Price gave the Trojans the lead on a three-pointer with 14:45 left in the half. Then Tiffin built up a 13-7 lead. Trevecca went on a 10-2 run highlighted by three-pointers by Calvin Walker and Braden Zapp to give the Trojans a 17-15 lead. In the last eight minutes of the first half, both teams traded points and Tiffin took a 27-25 lead into halftime.

The Trojans stormed out of the half and took a 36-31 lead back following an 11-4 run highlighted by three-pointers from Brendan Newton, Jaylon Tharpe, and Elon Smallwood. Tiffin kept pace with the Trojans scoring, before eventually taking the lead back with an 11-2 run to make it 55-46 with 8:36 left. Trevecca clawed their way back into the game with an 8-3 run highlighted by three-pointers by Calvin Walker and Josh Price. Trevecca got within four points of Tiffin with 2:55 remaining in the game, but they weren't able to match Tiffin's scoring.

Josh Price led the Trojans in scoring with 28 points, a career high with the Trojans, three rebounds and three assists. Elon Smallwood and Calvin Walker both had eight points.

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN

The Trojans shot 44.4% from the field (24-54) as a team, while hitting 42.9% (12-28) from range, and 40% (2-5) from the free-point line. Trevecca outrebounded Tiffin, 36-34, and had more assists 11-8.
