NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (4-17, 3-12 Great Midwest) lost to #2/#1 Ashland University (21-1, 16-0 Great Midwest) 86-41 on Thursday evening in Trojan Fieldhouse.

THE SERIES

The Eagles swept the season series and now lead the all-time series 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Despite being tested in overtime at Tiffin earlier in the week, the #2/#1 Ashland Eagles wasted little time establishing their dominance against Trevecca. Ashland opened the contest scoring the first 18 points before Shelby Jane Petty scored a 4:02 in the first quarter. The Eagles held a 22-6 advantage after the first.

The Trojans battled the Eagles the closest all night in the second quarter. Alex McFarlin scored all seven of her points in the frame as the Trojans faced a 36-19 halftime deficit.

A 5-0 run is how the Eagles began quarter number three en route to scoring a total of 27 points in the period. After three quarters the Eagles led 63-27. In the fourth, the Trojans were led by Kor Fornesa Liu who had all of her six points in the final 10 minutes as the Trojans fell 86-41.

PLAYER PERFORMANCE

Keeley Carter was limited to just 10 points on 3-12 shooting from the floor. Carter added five rebounds and two assists. Emma Palmer had eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.

TEAM STATS

The Trojans shot 40% (18-45) from the field while hitting just 3-pointer 1-9 (11.1%). Keeley Carter was the lone Trojan to make it to the free-throw line where she was 4-4. The Eagles won the battle of the boards 32-27 and led in steals 19-5.

The Trojans close out the week with the same opponent they began it week, hosting Tiffin University (10-11, 7-8 Great Midwest) on Saturday. The Trojans claimed the Monday meeting 82-72 at Tiffin.
