Box Score BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (0-2) fell to No. 10 ranked Drury University (2-0) by a score of 75-66 to wrap up the Midwest Region Crossover on Saturday afternoon.
THE SERIES
The Trojans have not won a game in the series so far, with Drury having the all-time series lead of 5-0.
THE MATCH
Drury came out of the gates strong and scored the game's first eight points. The Trojans came back and took a 13-12 lead off of six points from Keeley Carter. Then to start the second quarter, Drury went on a 12-2 run to regain the lead and make it 28-17. The Trojans chipped away at their deficit on scores by Tatum Shaw and Emma Palmer. The Trojans finished the half on an 11-6 run to cut their deficit to 46-40. The run was led by two three-pointers by Bayleigh Carmichel and another by Jayda Woods.
Both teams traded baskets to begin the third quarter before the Trojans went on a tear and scored 10 straight points to reclaim the lead and make it 54-51. After the run, the two teams exchanged leads, with the Trojans leading 61-59 going into the fourth quarter. However, in the fourth quarter, Drury regained the lead on a big run that was too much for the Trojans to overcome.
PLAYER STATS BREAKDOWN
Keeley Carter had 21 points and three rebounds and added four assists. Bayleigh Carmichel had 12 points and four rebounds. Jayda Woods scored 10 points.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
The Trojans shot 52.3% (23-44) from the floor, 41.2% (7-17) from three-point range, and 92.9% (13-14) from the free-throw line. The Trojans also outrebounded Drury 28-18.
UP NEXT
The Trojans will visit Tennessee State on Monday at 5:30 PM for an exhibition game before returning to Trojan Fieldhouse to take on the University of Alabama-Huntsville for the home opener.
