Box Score NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (5-15, 2-11 Great Midwest) fell to Malone University (15-4, 10-2 Great Midwest) 68-62, in Trojan Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Despite splitting the season series last season, the Pioneers improved to 9-2 against the Trojans by completing the season sweep.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Facing one of the top teams in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in Malone, the Trojans established themselves and controlled play early in the first half. Each of the starters collected points as the Trojans went out to a 16-12 lead, capped off by a Josh Price three-pointer with just under seven minutes into play. Malone then made a push late in the half with consecutive three-pointers and a 10-2 run to take the lead from the Trojans. Malone extended their lead, going into the half up 42-30.
Early in the second half, both teams traded points. That was until the Trojans went on a 7-0 run to cut their deficit to seven points and get back into the game. The Trojans clawed away at the deficit and got three baskets in a row bringing the score to 58-50. Trevecca rallied late and got within three points following a Chris Rogers three-pointer and a CJ Penha basket with just under two minutes remaining. But the Trojans came up just short, falling to Malone 68-62.
PLAYER STATS BREAKDOWN
CJ Penha led the Trojans with 21 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Josh Price added 14 points and five rebounds. Brendan Newtonadded nine points and 12 rebounds.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
The Trojans shot 42.9% (24-56) from the floor, 26.3% (5-19) from the three-point range, and 56.3% (9-16) from the free-throw line.
UP NEXT
The Trojans begin a three-game road trip when they take on Ohio Dominican (5-15, 3-10 Great Midwest) next Thursday, February 3, in Columbus, Ohio. Tip-off with the Panthers is set for 6:30 p.m.
