NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (5-14, 2-10 Great Midwest) on "Legends of the Hill" night, upset Walsh University (12-5, 8-3 Great Midwest) by a score of 71-64, at Trojan Fieldhouse on Thursday.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

The Cavaliers had won the last five in the series and now lead 8-2 overall. Walsh won the meeting earlier this season in double overtime in the Cecchini Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first half was back and forth, a very close battle. Walsh would get ahead, and the Trojans answered back in kind. Trevecca went down 5-0 early on but tied the score less than two minutes later. The score was tied five separate times in the half until the score was 31-31. Trevecca claimed its first lead on a three-pointer by Jaylon Tharpe with 1:10 left in the half. Walsh scored on a layup to bring the score to 34-33 at halftime.

Trevecca stormed out of the second half with three consecutive layups. They would extend their lead with a 9-2 run a bit later in the half, bringing the Trojan's lead to 49-40 with 11:57 remaining in the half. Josh Price and Calvin Walker made back-to-back 3-pointers for the Trojans as they extended the lead to 55-43. With just over seven minutes left in the game, Chris Rogers made a tough near half-court shot that brought the Fieldhouse crowd to its feet. Walsh rallied late to tie the game at 64 with just over two minutes left. However, the Trojans finished the game on a 7-0 run to win 71-64.

CJ Penha led the Trojans with 20 points and 18 rebounds. Josh Price added 13 points and rebounds. Chris Rogers added 10 points and three rebounds.

The Trojans shot 41.8% (23-55) from the floor, 35.7% (10-28) from the three-point range, and 75% (15-20) from the free-throw line.
