Box Score HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (4-12, 1-8 Great Midwest), were defeated by Hillsdale College (12-4, 7-3 Great Midwest), 67-51, on the road Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Trojans came out strong against Great Midwest Conference favorite Hillsdale on Thursday. After starting down 5-0, the Trojans responded with a 10-2 run to take a 10-7 advantage with six minutes gone on the clock. The run came from four different Trojans getting buckets. However, an 11-4 run by Hillsdale put the Chargers up again. Elon Smallwood made a layup that brought Trevecca within 19-21, but that is as close as the Trojans would get the rest of the half. Hillsdale closed with an 8-2 run for a 31-26 lead at the break.
In the second half, Hillsdale began to build the lead. Brendan Newton scored the first basket of the half just 38 seconds in. From there the Chargers extended their lead to 15 following three 3-pointers. A lead they would maintain, defeating Trevecca 67-51.
PLAYER STATS BREAKDOWN
CJ Penha led the Trojans with 13 points and five rebounds. Elon Smallwood added 12 points and two assists.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
The Trojans shot 38.9% (21-54) from the floor, 23.8% (5-21) from the three-point range, and 80% (4-5) from the free-throw line.
UP NEXT
The Trojans will play two road games in the next four days against the University of Findlay (10-5, 4-3 Great Midwest) at 1 PM on Saturday, and Ashland University (8-6, 5-3 Great Midwest) at 3 PM on Monday.
