PAINESVILLE, Ohio. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (4-11, 1-7 Great Midwest), fell to Lake Erie College (8-4, 2-3 Great Midwest), 72-56, on the road Thursday night.

Lake Erie has a 5-1 advantage over the Trojans in the all-time series.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

For the first 10 minutes of the game, neither team could pull ahead of the other. There were eight lead changes within that span. CJ Penha, who scored nine points during this stretch, gave the Trojans a 15-14 lead on a layup. However, with eight minutes left in the first half, Lake Erie began to pull ahead by scoring eight straight points bringing the score to 24-16. As time ran down in the half, the Trojans cut their deficit to 24-23, before giving up a 10-5 run to face a 34-28 score.

Out of the break, Lake Erie began to assert itself and went on a 15-6 run. The Trojans responded with a 10-5 run of their own, highlighted by six points by CJ Penha, four of which were free throws. Trevecca's momentum came screeching to a halt as Lake Erie would put the game out of reach with a 9-2 run that made it 46-63. CJ Penha eclipsed his previous career-high of 30 points on a layup with just over six and a half minutes remaining. He would finish with 33 points as the Trojans fell, 72-56.

PLAYER STATS BREAKDOWN 

CJ Penha led the Trojans with 33 points and finished off the double-double with 16 rebounds. Chris Rogers added 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists. 

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN 

The Trojans shot 38.9% (21-54) from the floor, 23.5% (4-17) from 3-point range, and 62.5% (10-16) from the free-throw line. The Trojans scored more points in the paint, 26-20.
