Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (5-8) concluded its spring season with a thrilling five-set victory over Sewanee (0-6) Friday. After winning the first two sets, the Trojans needed a 15-10 final set score to secure the victory.

THE SERIES
It was the 42nd meeting between the Trojans and Tigers, and Trevecca improved to 18-24 in the series.
THE MATCH
Trevecca took an early lead with wins in the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-14. The Tigers had 16 kills in the first set and 14 in the second, while Sewanee posted five kills in each set. Sewanee responded with a 25-18 and a 25-21 lead to force the fifth set.
Hitting errors proved pivotal for the Trojans as eight of the 15 points came via Sewanee miscues.
TOP PLAYERS
Austyn Baldwin and Ellie Buffer combined for 31 of the team's 54 kills. Baldwin led the team with 16 kills on 28 attempts and just four errors for a .429 hitting percentage. She was also a force at the net with six block assists and a solo block. In 38 attempts, Buffer tallied 15 kills with seven errors, hitting .211.
Chloee McDaniel distributed a team-high 25 assists. In a team defensive effort, 14 of the 15 players registered at least one dig as Claire Hindman led the way with nine.
THE TEAM
Trevecca had a 20-kill advantage over Sewanee, 54-34, and held the 57-56 advantage in digs. The Trojans hit .181 in the five-set match, and the Tigers posted an .022 hitting percentage. Sewanee had 12 service aces, while TNU registered eight service aces.
WHAT'S NEXT
Trevecca concluded the spring portion of their schedule and begin preparations for the 2021 fall campaign.
