Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn– The Trevecca Men's Basketball team was back on the floor with a shorthanded lineup on Thursday, due to several players still working through return-to-play protocols.
The Trojans (2-7, 2-5 Great Midwest) stayed in the game, but were unable to ultimately mount a comeback in a 69-56 loss to Cedarville (2-2, 2-2 Great Midwest).

It was the twenty-second ever meeting between Trevecca and Cedarville, and Cedarville took a 15-7 advantage with the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trevecca shot the ball well from the floor in the first half, converting on 10-of-22 attempts for a 45% mark, however the Trojans' two of seven mark from three-point range in the first half helped Cedarville take a 37-26 lead into halftime as the Yellow Jackets scored seven three-pointers in the first 20 minutes. Trevecca found more success in the paint in the first half, outscoring Cedarville 12-8 in that area. The Trojans trailed 35-17 with 3:44 to play, but outscored Cedarville 9-2 before the halftime buzzer with Austin Wills, Jaylon Tharpe, and Imani Starling contributing on the run. Sam Champlin led the Trojans in scoring at halftime with six points, while Cedarville's Conner TenHove had 13 and Quinton Green had 10 at the break.
Trevecca was able to hang around in the second half, cutting the Cedarville lead to 10 with back-to-back buckets by Starling, including a two-handed dunk with 13:22 to play. Cedarville had an answer, however, and responded with a 15-6 run to take its largest lead of the night, 61-42 with 8:03 to play. Trevecca's Adam Webb responded to the run with a three-point play, but Cedarville would outlast the Trojans down the stretch to win 69-56. The Yellow Jackets' were red-hot from three-point range, especially in the second half, hitting 12 total three-pointers on the night.
PLAYER STATS BREAKDOWN
Webb led the Trojans in scoring, with 15 points and eight rebounds on six of 12 shooting. Jaylon Tharpe notched his fourth career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds on three of five shooting from three-point range. Imani Starling scored 12 points for the Trojans, While Sam Champlin had eight points and four rebounds in his first career start. Austin Wills chipped in five points in the loss.
Cedarville's Quinton Green led the Yellow Jackets with 15 points on six of 10 shooting, as Branden Maughmer and Conner TenHove each scored 13. Jayvon Maughmer also reached double figures with 11 points.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
Trevecca scored on 20-of-45 field goal attempts for a 45% clip on Thursday, but struggled from distance, shooting just four of 15 on the night. Cedarville knocked down 12-of-34 three-point attempts while shooting 25-of-60 from the floor.
Both teams were tied up in rebounding with 31 apiece, and the Trojans dominated in the paint, outscoring Cedarville 28-18. Trevecca's 16 turnovers were an issue, however, as Cedarville coughed it up 12 times.

Trevecca will wrap up its four-game homestand on Saturday, with another Great Midwest matchup at Trojan Fieldhouse against Tiffin.
The Trojans will be back on the road on Monday, finally returning to a full-strength lineup with a trip to Ohio Dominican.
