SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

It was the eighth ever meeting between the Trojans and Chargers, and Hillsdale extended its 8-0 lead over Trevecca in the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trevecca's long layoff was evident right out the gate, as the Trojans started slow and trailed 10-0 before Gabriel McKay scored the first points of the night with a drive down the lane. Trevecca began to clamp down defensively but struggled to find consistent scoring in the first half and trailed 31-18 at the break. Hillsdale's Davis Larson was red-hot in the first 20 minutes, hitting three three-pointers to lead the team with 16 points. Trevecca's Jaylon Tharpe led the Trojans with eight points at halftime.

Hillsdale continued to pull away through the first six minutes of the second half, leading by as much as 21 points with 14:38 to play. The Trojans responded, ripping off a 13-0 run and holding Hillsdale scoreless for over six minutes of play. Brendan Newton scored his first four points in this stretch, and Chris Rogers facilitated Trevecca's offense, ultimately taking the team lead in points with 14. Newton hit a pair of free throws to pull Trevecca within five with 2:37 left in the game. Hillsdale continued to respond, but Trevecca would not go away. Imani Starling scored on a reversal effort to maintain the five-point deficit with 30 seconds to play, and Trevecca began fouling to stay in the game. Hillsdale, however, continued to hit crucial free throws. Rogers chipped the lead down to two with two seconds remaining, but Trevecca ultimately ran out of time in a bid to knock off the leaders of the Great Midwest.
