HOW IT HAPPENED
The nationally-ranked Panthers jumped out to a 7-0 lead, which turned into a 10-2 and 13-4 advantage. In the first, the Trojans pulled within five at 17-12 but trailed 20-12 after one. Kentucky Wesleyan registered another 20-point quarter in the second where they scored 22 points to lead 42-22 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Panthers did not reach the 20-point threshold but doubled up the Trojans to lead 58-30 after 30 minutes. The Trojans were outscored 20-11 in the fourth and lost 78-41. The Panthers won their 12th straight game.
PLAYER STATS REPORT
Olivia Pepperman led the way with nine points (eight in the first half), finishing with three rebounds and two steals. Olivia Stephens added eight points off the bench. Bayleigh Carmichel and Samantha Whiteman both finished with five.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
The Panthers outrebounded the Trojans 39-26 and were 27-48 (56.3%) shooters from the floor. The Trojans shot just 13-52 (25%) from the floor and were 3-22 (13.6%) from 3-point range. The Panthers hit 11-20 (55%) from 3-point range as Emma Johnson made five long shots. KWC led 17-6 in assists.
WHAT'S NEXT
Trevecca takes on Ohio Dominican (16-11, 11-6 Great Midwest) in the regular-season finale a week from today. Tip-off for the February 29 game against the Panthers is at 1:00 PM.
The game will be the sixth in the all-time series, as the Panthers lead 5-0 over the Trojans.
