Box Score NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (5-21, 5-12 Great Midwest) won for the third consecutive time defeating Kentucky Wesleyan College (10-15, 8-9 Great Midwest), 66-59, for the first time since January 2016.

Trevecca broke an eight-game win streak for the Panthers in the series. It is just the third win in the 15 times the Trojans have played the Panthers. Kentucky Wesleyan leads the series 12-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers jumped out to a 7-2 lead when Sasha Sukhanov scored his second basket with 17:59 to go in the half. With KWC leading 11-7, Trevecca scored six straight to take a 13-11 lead with 13:19 left in the half on a jumper by Austin Wills. With 7:15 left in the half, the game was tied 17-17, then Trevecca outscored the Panthers 10-4 to the break, leading 27-21. KWC started strong in the final 20 minutes, outscoring the Trojans 9-5 through the first two and half minutes pulling to within two (32-30). A dunk by Adam Webb on a beautiful assist by Chris Rogers gave the Trojans some room, but the Panthers were not finished. Kentucky Wesleyan scored five straight and a three by Adam Goetz at 15:20 put the Panthers ahead for the first time in the second half. With Trevecca leading 46-44 (10:58 remaining) the Panthers pulled ahead 54-50 (6:19) with a 10-4 run. The Trojans responded with a 10-2 run, capped by a deep three by Austin Wills with 1:03 remaining. The Trojans closed it out from there hitting 6-of-8 from the line.

Senior Reed Smith led the way with 15 points and six rebounds while Adam Webb contributed 10 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks, an assist, and a steal. Chris Rogers scored 13 with four rebounds and seven assists. Imani Starling scored 10 with five rebounds and two assists. With his three blocks, Adam Webb reached 41 on the season, a new NCAA Era Record at Trevecca, JP Nyadaro had 40 in a season.

WHAT'S NEXT
Another Panther awaits the Trojans, the Ohio Dominican University Panthers (12-15, 8-9 Great Midwest) host the Trojans next Saturday in Columbus. Trevecca has not beaten ODU since the Panthers joined the Great Midwest in 2017. The Trojans defeated the Panthers during the 2008 season and trail 4-1 in the all-time series.
The Panthers defeated Trevecca 70-54 in the second conference game of the year for each team in Nashville on December 7, 2019. Sam Hickey scored 29 for the Panthers and only Justin Headrick reached double figures for the Trojans with 12.
