Box Score ELKINS, W. Va. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (3-21, 3-12 Great Midwest) defeated Alderson Broaddus University (7-17, 5-10 Great Midwest) 79-68, in the McDonnell Center on Thursday.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
*The game was played in former Great Midwest school Davis & Elkins College's McDonnell Center.
The 14th meeting favored Trevecca, as the Trojans picked up their third win in the all-time series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Once again, the Trojans featured Adam Webb in the early offense as the junior scored seven of the Trojans' first nine points. After the game's opening basket, the Battlers never led the rest of the half, cutting it to one on a couple of occasions. Beginning at the 4:20 mark, back to back Austin Wills' 3-pointers turned a 33-27 six-point game into a 12-point advantage. Reed Smith made a pair of free throws before halftime to give the Trojans a 43-29 lead at the break. In the second half, the Trojans maintained their lead the rest of the way, holding on for the 79-68 victory.
PLAYER STATS REPORT
Adam Webb tallied a team-high 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and nine rebounds. Reed Smith scored 18 points and five rebounds. Austin Wills stroked five 3-pointers finishing with 15 points and five assists.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
The Trojans shot 53.6% (30-56) from the field and 50% (11-22) from three-point range. Alderson Broaddus shot 41.4% (24-58) from the field and made 5-of-29 (17.2%) three-point attempts. The Trojans outrebounded the Battlers 33-26. The Trojans edged the Battlers 17-11 in assists, while ABU produced more steals, 9-3.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Trojans finish their West Virginia week with a game against Ohio Valley (4-19, 1-12 Great Midwest) on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
Trevecca has had previous success against OVU, leading 9-3 in the all-time series.
