Box Score FINDLAY, Ohio – After 280 days, the Trevecca Nazarene University Men's Basketball team (0-1, 0-1 Great Midwest) was finally back in action on Thursday, to open up the 2020-2021 season at the Findlay Oilers (1-0, 1-0 Great Midwest). The host Oilers defeated Trevecca 80-73 to start the Great Midwest campaign.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
It was the ninth ever meeting between Trevecca and Findlay, and the Trojans dropped to 0-9 all time against the Oilers with the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trevecca had a red-hot start, outscoring Findlay 13-3 in the first five minutes of action. The Trojans were able to control the lead throughout the first half and led by as much as 12 just over six minutes into the game. Chris Rogers was a perfect four-for-four from three-point range in the first half to lead the Trojans in scoring with 14 points at halftime. Trevecca had a 38-35 lead going into the break.
Findlay came out of the locker room on the front foot, surging ahead with an 8-2 run in the first five minutes of the second half. The Oilers ballooned the lead up to 11, when Imani Starling hit a three-pointer to make it a 67-59 Findlay lead with 6:10 to play. The Trojans were able to work the lead down to four with 43 seconds remaining after Jaylon Tharpe swished a triple from the right corner. Despite Findlay's efficiency at the free throw line in the final minute, the Trojans stayed in it with another three from Calvin Walker with 18 seconds to play to cut the Oiler lead to three. Findlay was able to hang on, however, for the 80-73 win.
PLAYER STATS BREAKDOWN
Chris Rogers led the way for Trevecca, scoring 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting, and hitting five of his six three-point attempts while adding four rebounds and three assists. Liberty transfer Brendan Newton scored 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists on his Trevecca debut. Austin Wills scored 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting, and Calvin Walker was the fourth Trojans to hit double figures with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
Trevecca shot the ball well, hitting 27 of its 56 (48.2%) field goal attempts, and going 11 of 23 (47.8%) from deep. Trevecca was also a perfect 8-for-8 on the free throw line. The Trojans were outrebounded, however, 36-31 on the night.
The ultimate difference was in second chance points. Findlay score 20 against Trevecca's seven.
WHAT'S NEXT
Trevecca will remain on the road on Saturday, playing the second game of the Great Midwest campaign at Hillsdale.
