Box Score NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (1-15, 1-6 Great Midwest) lost, 81-63, to Alderson Broaddus University (3-11, 2-4 Great Midwest) in Trojan Fieldhouse on Thursday.
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
With the win tonight Alderson Broaddus extends their lead to 12-2 overall, having won for the second time in a row in the series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Battlers never trailed during the first half after sinking the game's first 3-pointer to begin the scoring. The Trojans countered with a Jaylon Tharpe 3-pointer before Alderson Broaddus used a 7-0 run to open up the game. From there, the lead was never more than eight as the Trojans battled back to tie it at 28-28 with under three minutes to play. Two made free-throws by David Shriver gave the Battlers a 32-30 halftime advantage. Shriver connected for back-to-back 3-pointers to open the second half, giving ABU a 38-30 lead. The Trojans pulled within four at 41-37 when Chris Rogers hit one of his seven made 3-pointers. ABU finished off the Trojans for an 81-63 win.
PLAYER STATS REPORT
Chris Rogers registered a career-high 23 points on 7-of-13 shooting from 3-point range. Jaylon Tharpe contributed 17 points and four rebounds though it was Adam Webb who collected a team-high six rebounds to go with six points.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
Trojans shot 44.6% (25-56) from the field and 41.9% (13-31) from three-point range … Trevecca did not shoot any free throws though ABU was 81.8% (18-22) from the line and 56.8% (25-44) from the floor. TNU won the rebounding battle 26-23, though ABU had two more assists, 15-13.
WHAT'S NEXT
Trevecca continues its homestand on Saturday when Ohio Valley (3-12, 0-6 Great Midwest) visits Trojan Fieldhouse at 4:15 PM.
The Trojans are 10-2 versus the Fighting Scots all-time but lost the last meeting 75-74 in Vienna, W.Va.
