Trevecca Women's Basketball | Trojans Take Down Lake Erie 62-52 for Fourth Straight G-MAC Win

Box Score

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (7-12, 4-6 Great Midwest) extended its Great Midwest winning streak to four with a 62-52 win over visiting Lake Erie College (8-12, 5-5 Great Midwest) in Trojan Fieldhouse on Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

With the win, the Trojans move ahead 2-1 in the all-time series since the Storm joined the league prior to the 2017 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Trojans were led by Annaliese Burnett in the first quarter whose two 3-pointers accounted for more than half of the Trojans 11 first-quarter points. Neither team was able to gain more than a two-point advantage as the Trojans trailed 13-11 entering the second quarter. Burnett's third made 3-pointer gave the Trojans back the lead in the second when they could gain no more separation than three points. After Lainey Billing connected for one of two free throws the Trojans faced a first-half high five-point deficit at 24-19 before going into the break down 26-22. Both teams created early offensive looks in the third but a 9-0 run started for the Trojans when Samantha Whiteman hit a jumper at the 4:23 mark. That basket pulled the Trojans from down one to ahead by seven, 42-35. The Trojans would go on to outscore the Storm 20-15 in the fourth quarter for the 62-52 home win.

PLAYER STATS REPORT

Annaliese Burnett scored a team-high 11 points, helping out with six rebounds and four steals. Olivia Pepperman also reached double figures with 10 points, while matching Burnett's six rebounds and four steals. Olivia Travis had a season-high nine points off the bench to help the Trojans secure victory.

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN

Trevecca shot 39.3% (24-61) from the field and 27.8% (9-15) from three-point range. Both teams grabbed 32 rebounds and made nine free-throws (TNU= 9-15 – 60%) (LEC= 9-14 – 64.3%). The Trojans led 11-7 in assists and bench points, 21-8.
