NORTH CANTON, OH – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (2-18, 2-13 G-MAC) loss to Walsh University (18-7, 13-4 G-MAC), 84-46, in the Cecchini Center on Thursday night.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

Trevecca and Walsh met for the second time this season and the fourth time ever. Trevecca defeated Walsh 67-63 on December 15 in Trojan Fieldhouse for the Trojans first win in the Omar Mance era. The Cavaliers lead the all-time series 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The game opened with a pair of 3-pointers: first from Walsh's Darryl Straughter only to be responded by Austin Wills (SO/Benton, IL) … the game was tied at 5-5 before Walsh went on an 11-0 run to lead 16-5 … Walsh opened a 16 point lead after a 7-0 run to lead 27-11 with 9:16 remaining … the Trojans closed the gap to just 10 (36-26) at the under four timeout … Walsh outrebounded Trevecca 18-8 in the first half to lead 44-26 at the break … TNU made seven second-half field goals, four of which were 3-pointers … the Cavaliers used two different big second-half runs to put the game out of reach … leading 49-33, WU put together an 11-0 run to lead 60-33 … and then again leading 65-40, WU used another 11-0 run to go up 76-40 … Walsh won 84-46.

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN

The Trojans shot 34.8% from the field, 35.5% from 3-point range and 50.0% from the foul line … the Cavaliers shot 57.1% from the field and 51.7% from 3-point range while also going 45.5% from the foul line … WU outrebounded TNU 38-18 and had more steals, 7-4 and assists, 17-8 … WU had the game's only block.

PLAYER STATS REPORT

Austin Wills scored a team-high 13 points (5-10 FG) to go with three rebounds and two assists … Nathan Harper (SO/Lexington, KY) finished with 12 points (4-7 3pt FG), and three rebounds … Imani Starling (SO/Nashville, TN) helped out with five points and a team-high six rebounds … Caleb Cockrell (SO/Buffalo, NY) and CJ Herbert (SO/Mt. Juliet, TN) both had six points.

WHAT'S NEXT     

The Trojans play their second and final game against Malone University (13-10, 8-8) on Saturday at 2 PM. The Pioneers claimed the first meeting this season, 80-54 on December 13 in Trojan Fieldhouse. Malone leads the all-time series, 4-1 over the Trojans.
