NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (2-17, 2-12 G-MAC) loss to Cedarville University (14-10, 11-5 G-MAC), 70-57, in Trojan Fieldhouse on Thursday night.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

Trevecca and Cedarville met for the second time this season and the 18^th time all-time. Cedarville defeated Trevecca 94-64 on December 6 at Cedarville. The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series 12-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After Cedarville scored the game's first points, Trevecca responded with a 7-0 run … the Trojans led most of the first half, including by five points three times and seven points (35-28) when Jaylon Tharpe (SO/Clarksville, TN) connected for a 3-pointer … despite connecting on 50% of their 3-pointers (9-18) in the first half, Trevecca trailed Cedarville 37-35 at the break … Reed Smith (SO/Brentwood, TN) tied the game at 37-37 to begin the second half, but Cedarville dominated the second half … after Reed Smith scored six straight points to cut it to a 48-47 game, Cedarville went on an 11-0 run to put the game out of reach … Trevecca would cut it to eight (59-51) but that was as good as they would get … Cedarville won 70-57.

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN

The Trojans shot 42.0% from the field, 39.3% from 3-point range and 100.0% from the foul line … the Yellow Jackets shot 46.7% from the field and 18.2% from 3-point range while also going 100.0% from the foul line … CU outrebounded TNU 34-26 and had more steals, 10-6 … CU also led in assists 17-12 …  and in blocks, 2-1.

Imani Starling (SO/Nashville, TN) scored a team-high 13 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists … Nathan Harper (SO/Lexington, KY) finished with 12 points, five rebounds, and four steals … Reed Smith helped out with 10 points and six rebounds.

WHAT'S NEXT     

The Trojans concluded their five-game homestand and will travel to face Walsh University (17-7, 14-4) next Thursday at 6:30 PM and Malone University (13-10, 8-8) on Saturday at 2 PM.
