Box Score

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (0-7) fell to nationally-ranked #8 University of Alabama-Huntsville (7-0) in their return to Trojan Fieldhouse after a four-game road trip on Monday night.

SERIES/HISTORY:

The 21st game in the all-time series favored the Chargers who now hold a 12-9 edge in the series. UAH has secured a victory in each of the last three contests, with the Trojans last positive result coming during the 2016 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The #8 ranked team in the nation flexed their muscles in the opening minute of action, securing the game's first five points. Austin Wills (JR/Benton, IL) answered for the Trojans with a 3-pointer and after a Charger layup, the home team used a 5-0 run to lead 8-7 in the opening minutes. UAH quickly recaptured the lead and extended it to as much as 13 when it was a 24-11 affair with 11:39 to play in the first half. The Trojans later erased an 11-point Charger lead during a six-minute span which saw Reed Smith (SR/Brentwood, TN) score eight of his 17 points. With under four minutes to play, back-to-back Evan Ragsdale (JR/Nashville, TN) 3-pointers made it a one possession game and then two minutes later the Trojans regained the lead when Smith hit a jump shot. UAH took a 43-38 lead into halftime. The experience of the Chargers prevailed in the second half. The first few minutes went back and forth before a Jaylon Tharpe (JR/Clarksville, TN) layup made it a three-point game (47-44) the closest the Trojans could manage it in the half. After an 8-0 run put UAH up 62-47 with 11:37 to play, the game was out of reach for Trevecca. The Chargers went on to win 80-60.

The Trojans shot 35.2% (19-54) from the field, 82.4% (14-17) from the foul line and were 27.6% (8-29) shooters from 3-point range.
