NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (2-1) lost for the first time this season, a 78-49 non-conference road loss at No. 14 Lee University (3-0) at Walker Arena on Wednesday.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

Lee leads the series 5-1 in the NCAA Division II era, but all-time the all-time series now stands 14-11 in favor of the Flames.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Flames nearly put the game on ice opening with a 13-2 run and later lead by 16 (23-7) with 1:34 to go in the first quarter … with 3:40 to go in the second quarter the Flame lead was 15 (32-17) and the Trojans made their best run of the game … Bayliegh Carmichel pushed the Trojans within five (32-27 / 1:56) fueling a 10-0 run with eight points of her own in the run … Lee led by six (35-29) at the half … with 6:48 left in the third the Lee lead remained six (41-35), but the Flames pulled away for a final time with a 17-0 run to take a 58-35 lead with 3:48 to go in the third … from there the Flames held off the Trojans the rest of the way for their third win.

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN

Lee hit nine three-pointers and out rebounded the Trojans 47-30, turning that into a 19-4 advantage in second chance scoring … Trevecca hit just two from deep, going 2-21 from beyond the arch … the Trojans helped the Flames with 19 turnovers, which Lee used to outscore the Trevecca 27-10 in the points off of turnover category

PLAYER STATS REPORT

Olivia Stephens (11) and Bayleigh Carmichel (10) were the only Trojans to reach double figures in scoring … Carmichel led the team with five rebounds and Sophie Henry added five steals 

WHAT'S NEXT    

The Trojans welcome Shorter University (1-2) on Saturday for non-conference matchup at 2 PM in Trojan Fieldhouse. Trevecca leads the series 4-1 in the NCAA D2 era, but the Eagles won their first in the series last year in Rome, Ga. Including NAIA play, the Trojans lead the series 10-3.
