NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (1-14, 1-9 G-MAC) fell to #12 University of Findlay (15-3, 9-2 G-MAC), 87-51, in Trojan Fieldhouse on Thursday evening.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

Trevecca and Findlay met for the fifth time since the Oilers joined the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Oilers lead the all-time series 5-0.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Findlay scored the game's first eight points and held their lead for the first 10 minutes of the game … Austin Wills (SO/Benton, IL)' 3-pointer tied the game at 18-18 with 10:21 to play and then Nathan Harper (SO/Lexington, KY) gave the Trojans their first lead of 20-18 at 9:46 … the teams traded baskets and the Trojans led by as many as four, 29-25 before the Oilers closed the half on a 13-0 run … in the second half, the Trojans cut the deficit to four (38-34) after back-to-back made possessions … the Trojans made it interesting again when Nathan Harper hit a 3-pointer to cut it to a 49-42 game with 14:12 to play … but the opening minutes of the half was as close the Trojans would get as the Oilers went on to win 87-51.

 

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN

The Oilers shot 56.5% from the field, 47.1% from 3-point range and 64.3% from the foul line … the Trojans shot 38.3% from the field and 34.8% from 3-point range while going 63.6% from the foul line …  UF outrebounded TNU 35-27 and created more assists 20-11 … both teams had three blocks and UF led in steals, 7-2.

 

PLAYER STATS REPORT

Nathan Harper finished with a career-high 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field including 5-of-6 from 3-point range … Imani Starling (SO/Nashville, TN) added 14 points and a team-best five assists … Reed Smith (SO/Brentwood, TN) helped out with nine points and tied his season-high by grabbing 10 rebounds … Austin Wills had seven points and six rebounds.

 

WHAT'S NEXT     

The Trojans continue their five-game homestand Saturday when they host Hillsdale College (13-5, 9-2 G-MAC) at 4:15 PM.
