COLUMBUS, OH – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (1-13, 1-8 G-MAC) fell to Ohio Dominican University (11-6, 7-3 G-MAC), 78-47, in Alumni Hall on Saturday afternoon.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

Trevecca and Ohio Dominican met for the fourth time since ODU joined the Great Midwest. The Panthers lead the all-time series 3-1.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers got out to a 5-0 lead to begin the game … Jaylon Tharpe (SO/Clarksville, TN) answered with a 3-pointer to make it 5-3, before ODU responded with an 8-0 run to lead 13-5 at 11:54 … leading 21-10, the Panthers used a 10-0 to take control of the first half and lead 31-10 … ODU led 36-13 at halftime … TNU opened the second half with a pair of Austin Wills (SO/Benton, IL) free-throws and a 3-pointer from Jaylon Tharpe to cut the deficit to 20 (38-18), but ODU maintained their offense the rest of the way … ODU outscored TNU by just 8 in the second half, to win 78-47.

 

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN

The Panthers shot 41% or better as a team from the field (44.6%), from 3-point range (41.2%) and from the free-throw line (46.2%) … the Trojans were a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line while shooting 34% (18-53) from the field and 22.2% (6-27) from 3-point range … ODU outrebounded TNU 49-27 and created more assists 20-9 … TNU held the advantage in steals, 6-5.

Jaylon Tharpe finished with a team-high 17 points and his season-high 10 rebounds for the double-double … Austin Wills added 12 points going a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line … Imani Starling (SO/Nashville, TN) (6 points, 3 rebounds), Elijah Mollenhauer (FR/Baku, Azerbaijan) (6 points, 3 rebounds) and Caleb Cockrell (SO/Buffalo, NY) (6 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists) were the other Trojans to score.
