TIFFIN, OH – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (0-7, 03 G-MAC) lost to Tiffin University (3-6, 2-1 G-MAC), 100-91, at the Gillmor Student Center on Saturday afternoon.

SERIES/HISTORY: 

The Dragons won the first-ever meeting between to the two schools. Tiffin joined the G-MAC prior to the 2018-19 season and sponsors 22 athletic teams.

EVAN RAGSDALE/3-POINTERS MADE RECORD

Evan Ragsdale (JR/Nashville, TN) (JR/Nashville, TN) led Trevecca with a team-high 29 points in the Trojans loss.

Ragsdale's nine 3-pointers ties Jacob Williams' school record set on Feb. 4, 2017, a season ago. Both sharpshooters went 9-of-11 (82%) in their performances.

The previous record for three-pointers made in a game was eight and occurred six times by five historical names in Trevecca men's basketball history.

Craig Grider and David Suddeth were the first to do it during the 1991-1992 season. Grider did it twice with the second occasion of eight made three-pointers coming during the 1992-1993 season.

Dan Muchmore (1995-1996), Curtis Lewis (2003-2004), and Jerod Perry (2004-2005) followed with eight made three-pointers in a game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Jaquez Gilbert (FR/Marietta, GA) (FR/Marietta, GA) got the Trojans on the board with a 3-pointer to begin the game, the first of 18 the Trojans would hit … Trevecca led 7-2 early before Tiffin managed to tie it at 7-7 … from there the Dragons went on a 10-2 run to lead 17-9 … just two minutes later the Trojans were back into the game when Austin Wills (SO/Benton, IL) (SO/Benton, IL) connected from deep to put the Trojans down 20-17 … the game was tied at 28-28 (7:18) and 42-42 (1:26) and remained within a few baskets for the entire first half … the Dragons led 46-44 at the break … Jaylon Tharpe (SO/Clarksville, TN) (SO/Clarksville, TN) hit a 3-pointer eight minutes into the second half to give the Trojans back the lead (63-62) … with over eight minutes to play Austin Wills gave the Trojans a six-point advantage at 76-70 … after the under four media timeout the Dragons outscored the Trojans 19-8 to win 100-91.

The Trojans shot their highest shooting percentage (55.6% / 35-63) from the field and from three-point range (54.5% / 18-33) this season … they also secured the most assists (21 / 16 vs KWC) and points (91 / 70 vs Union) most offensive rebounds (6 / 5 vs Cedarville) of the young year.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Trojans return to Nashville for final exam week to host Malone University (5-5, 1-3 G-MAC) next Thursday, December 13 at 7:45 PM. Malone leads the all-time series 3-1.

The Trojans conclude next week with a tilt against Walsh University (7-4, 3-1 G-MAC) on Saturday, December 15 at 4:15 PM. The teams split both games last season.
