HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (4-17, 3-10 G-MAC) lost 77-61 at Hillsboro College (17-4, 11-3 G-MAC) on Saturday in Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena.

SERIES/HISTORY: The Chargers own a 2-0 lead in the series, winning the first meeting earlier this year 76-73 on November 30th in the Trojan Fieldhouse.

   

GAME CHRONICLE

The contest started with an 8-0 run by the home-standing Chargers. A 7-0 answer by the Trojans put the game at 8-7 Hillsdale with 15:31 remaining in the half. Trevecca pulled ahead 13-12 with 13:04 to go in the half following a Deion Johnson layup ending a 6-0 TNU run. Hillsdale pulled ahead 29-15 with 7:27 remaining in the half on a 17-2 run. A 6-0 run cut the Hillsdale lead to seven (31-24) with 2:59 left. The Charger lead reached 12 (40-28) at the break. Trevecca did not cut the Hillsdale lead below double digits in the second half.  

 

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN

Trevecca shot 40% (22-55) from the field, 30% (6-20) from three-point range, and 69% (11-16) from the foul line. Hillsdale led Trevecca 36-26 in points scored in the paint. TNU owned a 5-2 edge in second-chance scoring. The Chargers shot 57% (31-54) from the field and 42% (10-24) from three-point range.  

   

PLAYER STATS REPORT

Three Trojans scored in double figures led by Devin Whitfield's 13. Michael Thompson and Austin Wills added 10. Nick Anyang and Whitfield led with five rebounds. Austen Yarian led the Chargers with 19 points.  

   

WHAT'S NEXT

Trevecca hosts Ohio Dominican University on Thursday, February 1st at 8 PM. The series between the two schools is tied 1-1 with the Panthers winning the first meeting this season 82-51 on December 9th.

 

Cedarville University visits on Saturday, February 3rd at 4 PM. The Yellow Jackets own a 9-6 edge in the series, winning the last meeting on December 7th earlier this season.

 

The Trojans final home game is scheduled for February 24th when Ohio Valley University visits at 4 PM. The Trojans lead the series with the Fighting Scots 9-1, winning the last four in the series including a 97-83 win January 11th in Vienna, WV earlier this season.
