ELKINS, W. Va. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team lost in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference road game on Thursday at Davis & Elkins College, 79-65, at McDonnell Center.

TNU leads the series 6-3, losing their last two games in the series

GAME CHRONICLE

Senators largest lead in the first quarter was 12-6 with 5:27 left to go

The Senators led 21-17 after one quarter of play

TNU cut the D&E lead to two (19-17) with :43 left in the 1st, the Senators used a 7-1 run and led by eight (26-18) with 7:34 left in the half

D&E outscored TNU 14-10 in the second, for a 35-27 lead at the half

The D&E lead moved to 12 (41-29) with 8:10 left in the third, but Trevecca cut the deficit to five (46-41) with a 12-5 run

It was then that the Senators turned the game in their favor with a 8-0 run that gave the hosts a 13-point (54-41) lead with 2:53 left.

D&E closed out the third quarter outscoring the Trojans 31-21 for a 66-48 margin after three quarters

TNU outscored D&E 17-13 in the fourth quarter as D&E won the game 79-65

The Senators ruled Trojans 41-30 on the boards and bench scoring 32-22

TNU outscored D&E 14-9 on second chance opportunities and 15-12 in point scored off of turnover

 

PLAYER STATS REPORT

Kiersten Hunter led Trevecca with 12 points; 3-6 shooting from three-point land

McKenzie Kilburn had a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and a team high four assists

Sarah Raby rounded out the double figure scorers with 10

 

WHAT'S NEXT  

Trevecca plays at Alderson Broaddus University (9-15, 3-7 G-MAC) on Feb. 11 at 1 PM. The Trojans are 6-1 all-time versus the Battlers.

 

The Trojans next home game is Thursday, February 16th at 6 PM when Ohio Valley University (6-16, 0-10 G-MAC) comes to visit. TNU is 6-1 versus the Scots, winning 75-58 at OVU on Jan. 7th.  

 

The final two home games are Feb. 18 at 2 PM versus Cedarville University (14-9, 6-4 G-MAC) and then Feb. 25 at 2 PM versus Kentucky Wesleyan College (15-6, 5-5 G-MAC). TNU is 3-6 all-time versus the Yellow Jackets and 5-6 versus the Panthers.
