MEMPHIS, TN. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (1-10, 0-4 G-MAC) lost, 86-79, to Christian Brothers University (10-0, 2-0 GSC) on Saturday in Canale Arena.

SERIES/HISTORY:

This was the eighth meeting between the Trojans and the Buccaneers in the NCAA era. The all-time series is now 7-1 in favor of Christian Brothers. Trevecca lost 77-74 on November 18th in the Trojan Fieldhouse.

GAME CHRONICLE

Much like the contest in Trojan Fieldhouse earlier this season, the game remained close the entire way … the Trojans and Buccaneers traded baskets for much of the first half … with eight minutes remaining the first half the Trojans extended their first half lead to three (26-23) when Deion Johnson (JR/Jacksonville, FL) made a layup … led by Jacob Williams (SR/Lebanon, TN) 13 points the Trojans trailed 42-33 at halftime … after conceding a few short runs early in the second half the Trojans cut the Buccaneers lead to six (67-61) when Michael Thompson (SO/McCordsville, IN) hit a free-throw to finish a four point play with 7:45 to play in the game … the Trojans hung around in the final seven minutes, keeping the game within six points most of the way … late free-throws gave the Buccaneers the 86-79 win.

Trevecca hit 43.3% (29-67) from the field and 37.9% (11-29) from deep ... Trevecca was outrebounded by Christian Brothers 35-32 ... Christian Brothers led in assists 20-19 … Christian Brothers also led in bench points 20-19.

Jacob Williams led the team with 24 points (8-22 FG / 5-13 3PT FG) and four rebounds … Michael Thompson added 14 points seven rebounds and seven assists … Deion Johnson provided the most complete game with 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists and a steal … Austin Willis (14 points) was the last Trojan in double figures.

WHAT'S NEXT

Trevecca continues its four game road trip when they return to Ohio, this time to take on new Great Midwest foe Lake Erie College (8-3, 3-0 G-MAC) Saturday December 30th at 2 p.m. The game is the Trojans fifth G-MAC game and final contest of 2017.
