HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (2-1, 0-0 G-MAC) defeated the University of Alabama-Huntsville  Chargers (2-1, 0-0 GSC), 65-62 at Kelly Court in Springs Hall.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

This is the seventh meeting between TNU and UAH in women's basketball. The Trojans are now 5-2 against the Chargers. This is the first time Trevecca has started 2-1 since the 2013-2014 season. TNU won four of last five games vs UAH including the last three at UAH. Last year Trevecca didn't get their second win until game six of the season.

 

GAME CHRONICLE

The Trojans went on a 9-0 run from 7:57 to 5:53 in the first quarter as three different Trojans hit three-pointers to take the lead 9-4 … the first quarter ended with TNU ahead 16-12 … in the second quarter, Trevecca went on an 11-0 run from 8:17 to 3:48 for a 29-14 lead … Trevecca went into the locker room for halftime up 32-22 … the most significant run by either team in the third quarter was a 5-0 run by Trevecca from 6:11 to 4:31 that gave them a 44-30 lead … the third quarter ended with TNU up 50-40 … Alabama-Huntsville went on a 12-2 run from 5:58 to 2:40 in the fourth quarter to narrow the Trevecca lead to 59-55 … the Trojans won the game 65-62.

 

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN

The Trojans finished 22-for-52 (42.3%) from the field, including 8-21 (38.1%) from beyond the arc

UAH finished 21-for-67 (31.3%) from the floor.

TNU outrebounded UAH 45-38

TNU led in blocks 5-4 while Trevecca's defense forced UAH into ten turnovers.

The Chargers outscored the Trojans 16-4 on points off turnovers

UAH went 19-for-22 from the free-throw line (86.4%), while TNU went 13-for-22 (59.1%)

 

PLAYER STATS REPORT

Callie Hackett scored a team-high 17 points, dished out two assists, grabbed two rebounds

Brittin Boyer added 16 points, eight rebounds, and six assists

Nine other Trojans scored at least two points.

Brittin Boyer and Olivia Pepperman each had a team-high eight rebounds.                     

Aimee Jump added five blocks.
