NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team (0-1, 0-0 G-MAC) hosted the seventh-ranked Panthers of Drury University on Friday in the opener of the Pops Duncan Classic at Trevecca, falling 71-57 at the season opener Trojan Fieldhouse.

POPS CLASSIC UPDATE

Fellow Great Midwest member Walsh University defeated Quincy University, 75-55, in the first game of the day on Friday. Walsh will play Drury at 3:30 PM on Saturday.

GAME CHRONICLE

Drury led 15-8 at the end of the first quarter, but Trevecca closed the game, outscoring Drury 27-26 in the second quarter ... in the third, the Panthers topped the Trojans 14-12 and then 16-10 in the fourth ... Drury's lead reached nine (17-8) with 9:20 left in the second quarter, it was nine (27-18) still with 6:05 left in the quarter when the Trojans used a 10-1 run to pull within one (29-28) with 3:28 left in the half ... The Panthers pushed the lead to nine (41-32) with :28 left in the half ... the DU lead hit 16 (65-49) with 6:25 left in the fourth ... TNU scored six straight to cut the lead to 10 (65-55), but the Trojans did not come any closer
