Women's Basketball | Trevecca Earns G-MAC Win @ OVU; Open 5-Game Homestand Thursday

VIENNA, W.Va. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball team went on the road and are bringing home their first Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) win on the year after a 75-58 win at Ohio Valley University, beating the Fighting Scots on Saturday at the Snyder Activity Center.

The game opened with an 11-0 Trojan run

TNU led 16-6 with 1:19 left

A 5-0 OVU run cut Trojan lead to 16-11 at end of the 1st Quarter

Fighting Scots made it a 10-0 run with first five points of the second quarter for a 16-16 tie

TNU responded with a 9-0 run for a 25-16 lead

Trevecca closed the half on a 8-5 run for a 33-21 lead at the break

Trevecca shot 46% (27-59), 42% (13-31) from deep, 50% (8-16) from the line

TNU topped in rebounding 42-34, 21-10 in bench points, 14-6 in second chance scoring, and 22-12 in points off turnovers 

Trevecca outscored Ohio Valley in every quarter

The 75 points are the second most for the Trojans this season

It is the second time in three games the Trojans have made 13 three-pointers

Trevecca had hit double figure three-pointers only one other time this season when they hit 10 at UAH on November 29th

The 42 rebounds are the most this season and only the second time with 40 or more, the team grabbed 40 against Fisk

 

PLAYER STATS REPORT

Megan Kilburn (SR/Summertown, TN) led Trevecca with 17 points with 6-of-10 shooting

Sarah Raby (SR/Lynchburg, TN) had a double double with 13 points, a team-high ten rebounds, a steal, and two blocks

Kiersten Hunter (FR/Lilburn, GA) dished out four assists while scoring 10 and collecting five rebounds

McKenzie Kilburn (FR/Summertown, TN) hit double figures in scoring with 11

Morgan Long (SR/Summertown, TN) had a balanced game with six rebounds, five points, four assists, and a steal

 

WHAT'S NEXT

Trevecca begins a five-game home stand with their first home date in 2017 on January 12th. New G-MAC member Malone University (9-4, 2-0 G-MAC) visits the Trojan Fieldhouse for the first time at 6 PM.

 

Trevecca hosts G-MAC favorite Ursuline College (10-5, 2-0 G-MAC) on Saturday, January 14 at 2 PM.
