Trevecca Men's Basketball | Trojans Lose to Battlers in G-MAC Road Tilt

PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball (6-11, 2-1 G-MAC) lost on the road at the two-time defending G-MAC champion Alderson Broaddus University (10-5, 2-1 G-MAC) 87-65 on Saturday at Rex Pyles Arena.

 

The Trojans return to the road on Saturday, Jan. 23rd when they visit Kentucky Wesleyan College (15-2, 3-0 G-MAC) at the Owensboro Sports Center for a 3:15 PM contest with the Panthers. The Trojans are 1-4 versus Kentucky Wesleyan in the NCAA Division II Era, winning the last meeting, which was a 76-73 victory at the Trojan Fieldhouse Feb. 7, 2015.

 

The Trojans next home game isn't until Jan. 28 when they host Ohio Valley University (3-11, 1-1 G-MAC) at 8 PM at the Trojan Fieldhouse. The Trojans are 4-0 all-time versus OVU.

 

ABU is 6-0 all-time against the Trojans and are 4-0 versus the Trojans at Pyles Arena. The Battlers will return the favor on Feb. 18th when they visit the Fieldhouse at 8 PM.

 

Trevecca opened the game with a 6-0 run. The Battlers didn't take the lead until the 11:53 mark when they pulled ahead 12-10 following a 10-2 run. Trevecca led just one more time in the game, 17-16, with 9:04 left in the half. The Battlers held the Trojans scoreless from the 4:32 mark until the final three seconds of the half. The 9-2 ABU advantage put the Battlers up 10 (38-28) at the break.

 

The ABU lead was nine (49-40) with 15:14 left in the game, but the Battlers added 10 consecutive points for a 19-point (59-40) lead with 12:08 on the second half clock. The Battlers led by as much as 27 (83-56) in the second half and settled for a 87-65 victory.

 

Jalen Palm (SR/Louisville, KY) scored 12 while Tyrell Corlew (SR/Louisville, KY) added 11 and Mac Walden (SR/Versailles, KY) scored 10. Michael Lang (SR/Chicago, IL) and Byron Sanford (SR/Louisville, KY) each grabbed four rebounds and Sanford had three assists.

 

Trevecca shot 42% (25-60) from the field, 28% (8-28) from three-point range, and 54% (7-13) from the foul line.

 

NATIONAL TELEVISION COMING TO THE FIELDHOUSE FEB. 6TH

On Feb. 6 the men's and women's basketball games between Cedarville University and Trevecca Nazarene University will air on the American Sports Network as part of the NCAA Division II Game of the Week package.

 

The men's and women's games between the Yellow Jackets and Trojans in Nashville, at the Trojans Fieldhouse in the Mark R. Moore Physical Education Center, will represent the G-MAC's first American Sports Network broadcast in any sport.

  

The women's game is set for 1 PM and the men's game will start after around 3 PM.
